Overview

Naranag, also known as Nara Nag, is a picturesque tourist village and ancient Hindu pilgrimage site located near Ganderbal in Jammu and Kashmir. Situated approximately 16 km from Kangan and 10 km upstream from the Sind River, it features ancient temple ruins and scenic meadows, lakes, and mountains. Naranag serves as a base camp for treks to Mount Harmukh (16,870 ft) and Gangabal Lake, as well as other nearby lakes like Gadsar, Vishansar, and Krishansar, which require 5 to 7 days of trekking. The village is also known for winter skiing due to heavy snowfall. Visitors can find information and accommodation at the tourism hut in Naranag​

The closest railway station is Jammu Tawi, approximately 300 km from Naranag. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Ganderbal and then to Naranag.

By Road

Naranag is well-connected by road. You can drive from Srinagar to Naranag, taking the road through the picturesque countryside.
