Overview

The Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden is a botanical garden in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India, which was set up in 1969 and fully established in 1987. It was created in memory of India's first Prime Minister. It contains many types of plants and vegetation. This garden has a collection of about 150,000 ornamental plants and a huge collection of oak varieties. The lake spreads over 17 hectares. This garden is located on the side of a mountain and near to Chashma Shahi and Roop Bhawani Temple. Many people from various areas of the world visit this place. It has four main divisions: the Plant Introduction Centre, the Research Section, the Recreational Garden and the Botanical Garden.

5°C to 22°C (41°F to 72°F) Cool and dry, with beautiful autumn foliage. Nights can be chilly.

Winter (December – February)

2°C to 10°C (28°F to 50°F) Cold and often snowy, with the garden covered in a white blanket. The area experiences freezing temperatures, especially in January.

Nearest Airport: Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport (SXR) is approximately 15 km away from the garden. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or use ride-sharing services to reach the garden. .

By Train

Nearest Railway Station: Jammu Tawi Railway Station is the nearest major railway station, located around 290 km from Srinagar. From the station, you can take a taxi or bus to reach Srinagar and then head to the botanical garden.

By Road

Local Transport: Srinagar has a good network of buses and taxis. You can take a local bus or hire a taxi to reach the garden. The garden is located near the famous Dal Lake, making it easier to navigate.
