Harwan Garden, located in Srinagar, Kashmir, holds historical significance dating back to ancient times. It is believed to have been established during the rule of the Kushan Empire, around 300 AD. This site houses the remnants of a Buddhist monastery, making it an important cultural and historical landmark. During an archaeological excavation in the early 20th century, ancient terracotta tiles depicting Buddhist symbols were discovered, suggesting that the garden area once hosted significant Buddhist activities, possibly even a Buddhist council. Today, Harwan Garden is not only appreciated for its historical value but also for its natural beauty, with its scenic canal, lush greenery, and nearby trekking trails that lead to the Dachigam Wildlife Sanctuary.
